Fructose-free food directly from nature - eat it without hesitation if you have fructose intolerance
Fructose, or fruit sugar, gives many foods their sweetness. Fruits such as pears, apples or grapes are delicious, but due to their high fructose content they should only be enjoyed with great care, as should foods made from them, i.e. jams, juices, sweets and sweeteners. Salads and vegetables can also contain fructose. But there are also natural fructose-free and low-fructose food that you can usually consume without hesitation.
Low-fructose & fructose-free food - natural enjoyment:
- Meat & fish
- Oils & Fats
- cereals (wheat, rye, oats, spelt, etc.)
- Pseudo-cereals (quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat)
- Noodles & Rice
- pure dairy products (milk, yoghurt, butter, cheese)
- fresh herbs & spices
- Eggs
- Apple vinegar & vinegar essence
- Nuts (except peanuts)
- Water, unsweetened tea & coffee
If you would like to enjoy not only fructose-free foods from nature, but also a varied diet despite fructose intolerance, there are some important tips:
- Always make sure you have a good ratio of fructose to glucose: Glucose facilitates the absorption of fructose in the intestines.
- Do not completely do without fruit, but choose low-fructose varieties such as apricots, raspberries, strawberries, mandarins, oranges or rhubarb.
- You should also eat vegetables every day to ensure the supply of nutrients - choose low-fructose foods such as green beans, spinach, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, etc.
- Prepare your meals as gently as possible to get as many nutrients as possible.
- It is better to take several smaller meals spread over the day instead of fewer large ones - this not only prevents ravenous appetite attacks, but by combining the meals you can also improve the digestibility of fructose-containing foods.
- Always make sure that the ratio of fructose to glucose is good: Glucose facilitates the absorption of fructose in the intestine.
- Also avoid foods containing sorbitol (E420) or xylitol (E967) as these substances can cause the same complaints as fructose.
