How it all began...

Our Story

Family-Run Gourmet Business

Krissi's mother Vera wanted Krissi to have a great birthday cake just like his friends, but the local bakeries and shops had nothing suitable for Krissi due to his fructose intolerance.

So Vera tinkered in her own kitchen until she was satisfied with the result and baked cakes sweetened with dextrose for Krissi, which were so delicious that even Krissi's best friend Tom started requesting Vera's fructose-free cakes for his birthday.

How it all began...

Fortunately, it didn't stop at the cakes – Vera continued to experiment, and today there is a fantastic selection of sweet and savoury delights from Tom & Krissi's that provide quick energy and are easily digestible.

Today, Krissi and Mum Vera continue to run the family-run gourmet business together, constantly developing new, lovingly crafted delicacies to share with everyone.

What are fructose-free products?

Fructose occurs naturally in varying amounts in fruits and vegetables. Although it's always individually different which amounts of different foods are tolerated, it's recommended to opt for fruits and vegetables with a low fructose content. For our fruit spreads, we only use fruits that inherently contain little fructose – the tasty and low-fructose foods for a delightful start to the day!

Usually completely uncritical, because "by nature" almost completely fructose free:

  • meat and fish.
  • cereals and cereal products such as noodles and pseudo-grains (quinoa, amaranth).
  • rice, potatoes, green salad.
  • eggs.
  • dairy products such as cheese, butter, milk and unsweetened yoghurt.
  • most types of nuts.

Foods with a naturally low fructose content include:

  • Fruit such as apricots, raspberries, strawberries, redcurrants, plums, mandarins and lemons
  • Vegetables such as rhubarb, spinach, broccoli, courgette, avocado

While most industrially produced drinks are sweetened with high amounts of fructose, the following are unproblematic:

  • Mineral water.
  • Tea (sweetened with dextrose or sweetener).
  • Coffee (sweetened with dextrose or sweetener).
  • Diet drinks.

Fructose free sweets - how is that possible?
The desire for sweets is innate in us humans - sweet food signal a high energy content to the body. The food industry is also aware of this preference, which is why food is enriched with sugar. Fructose is usually used for this purpose because fructose is cheap and has a high sweetening power. Accordingly, it is difficult to obtain fructose free food from the supermarket.

Our solution for fructose-free sweets is as simple as it is ingenious:
Wir we replace fructose with other, compatible sugars!

Delicious alternatives to fructose - we sweeten fructose free food with it:
  • dextrose (glucose, also called dextrose).
  • malt sugar (maltose).

There are also artificial substitutes for fructose free food such as sorbitol and xylitol. However, you should avoid these two - they cause the same symptoms as fructose.
