Jam without fructose – is that possible?
A fruit spread completely without fruit sugar, that's what many people with fructose intolerance would surely wish for, but 100% fructose-free jam cannot be achieved. Because we cannot remove fructose from the fruit. However, our factory manages to produce low-fructose fruit spreads that are sweetened exclusively with dextrose and fructose-free glucose syrup.
The actual fructose content of the jams varies depending on the type of fruit. For example, in strawberry fruit spread, it is 1.6 g of fructose per 100 g, less than 1 g per 100 g in currant fruit spread, and less than 1.35 g per 100 g in raspberry fruit spread (the fructose content from the contained sucrose is included). This means: Due to the very low content, the low-fructose jams are also digestible for most people with fructose malabsorption.
Low-fructose fruit spreads from Tom & Krissi’s
If only Sunday could start again with a cozy breakfast including jam on bread – do you sometimes wish for that despite your fructose intolerance? Then we have great news for you! Tom & Krissi’s has been busy in the factory and has developed several varieties of low-fructose jams. There's something for every taste.
Apricot Fruit Spread
Due to their perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, apricots are considered true jam superstars. Naturally, we also have apricot fruit spread in our factory. For 100 g, we use 52 g of apricots, which we process by hand, and sweeten exclusively with dextrose and glucose syrup.
Please note: Apricots naturally contain sorbitol. You have to determine individually how much fructose and sorbitol you tolerate. The consumption of fruit spreads with a natural sorbitol content is by no means excluded with fructose intolerance. Sorbitol is metabolized to fructose and therefore does not pose an additional risk but is quantitatively attributed to fructose.
